Description
Gnome terminal is not handling well when pasting a large piece of text (which in my test, ~3 millions char) test file: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/2600/2600.txt Method of testing:
- open gnome-terminal and start vi(any application that will read input, text editor is the best for testing, same problem occurs on nano)
- i use a GUI text editor (i used sublime text 3) to opent the testing file.
- copy all from the testing file.
- paste them into the vi (gnome-terminal)
- the first time, the text is correctly pasted (same number of lines)
- save the file (optional)
- quit vi (or the text editor)
- open the text editor again (WITHOUT restarting the gnome-terminal)
- paste it again (NO re-copying, i don't know if the same problem occurs in re-copying or not, i just test without re-copying)
- the line number is much less that original file
- we can still save it and see if the file saved is the same as original file (WHICH IS NOT)
What have i done to make sure it is the problem of Gnome-terminal
- replace Gnome-terminal with xterm, works perfectly no matter how many times i paste the text.
- changing the program (which originally i found the bug in my own program when i am doing my computing assignment), i tried nano and vi in gnome, problem still exists.
