URIs are now very annoying to select (selection delimiter change)

Description
Somewhere between Fedora 21 and Fedora 22 the delimiters used for double click selection changed and added ':', making it very annoying to select URIs.
E.g. double clicking on http://www.gnome.org would previously select the entire thing, but now you get "//www.gnome.org".
Not sure why this was done. Perhaps to easy selecting file paths?
Could we get something smarter? Or the previous behaviour back? It's generally easier to get rid of anything extra you get than to careful make a manual selection as the double click one doesn't get enough.
