Gnome-terminal doesn't resize child window properly under Compiz

Description
Please describe the problem: When used with Compiz, gnome-terminal doesn't resize its child (vte) windows correctly under certain conditions. It works fine under Metacity, but as the WM only handles root window child windows, it looks like a gnome-terminal problem is just obscured by Metacity.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open gnome-terminal while compiz is running
- Open a new tab (Shift+Ctrl+T)
- Maximize the gnome-terminal window
- Close the new tab
Actual results: The terminal child window still has the size of the unmaximized gnome-terminal window (default 80x24).
Expected results: The terminal child window is correctly resized to reflect the gnome-terminal window size.
Does this happen every time? Yes.
