gnome-terminal fails to recognize the boundary of an url when characters are escaped

Package: gnome-terminal Version: 1.0.55
gnome-terminal fails to recognize the boundaries of an URL. Characters after a % are not recognizes as being part of the URL.
example:
http://www.example.com/test.cgi?name=john%20doe
terminal only reconizes as being the the URL.
http://www.example.com/test.cgi?name=john%
