ssh receives signal 1 when run from gnome-terminal

Description
Package: gnome-terminal Version: gnome-terminal.c 1.151 (cvs HEAD) Severity: normal
Originator: Peter Teichman Organization: net Synopsis: ssh receives signal 1 when run from gnome-terminal Class: sw-bug Gnome-Libs-Release: gnome-libs-1.0.40 Environment: System: Linux tortoise 2.2.12
#1
SMP Sun Sep 26 20:29:37 EDT 1999 i686 unknown Architecture: i686 glibc-2.1.2
Distribution: Debian Version: potato
Description: Ssh aborts with a signal 1 when it is run from gnome-terminal, sometimes. I have reproduced the problem trying to log into a Sparc running SunOS 5.6 and sshd 1.2.25, and another running SunOS 5.7 and sshd 1.2.27. The end of my 'ssh -v' output follows:
tortoise: Requesting pty. tortoise: Requesting X11 forwarding with authentication spoofing. tortoise: Requesting authentication agent forwarding. tortoise: Requesting shell. tortoise: Entering interactive session. Command terminated on signal 1.
This problem does not show up if I run ssh from an xterm, so I'm filing this as a bug against gnome-terminal. That might be inappropriate.
I can successfully ssh into another Debian box without problems. I can also ssh from that box to one of the offending ones, without problems. The problem only occurs when doing an ssh to one of these particular computers from the machine that is running gnome-terminal.
Sorry this bug report doesn't offer much of a description.. This is about all I know about the problem.
How-To-Repeat: This is 100% reproducable, given my setup. I'm not sure what components are causing it, though. Let me know if you have any ideas on where to start. An strace of ssh doesn't appear to give any clues.
Fix: I don't know where to start looking for a fix.

Hi,
I can't recreate this problem :( I use ssh 1.2.22 to connect to sshd 1.2.26 on solaris 2.5.1 or solaris 7 with no problems from a linux box, or the other way around - I do this daily with no problems.
Did it used to work until recently?
What are the tty settings, do they vary between local logins and remote? (check stty -a output).
I'm kind of at a loss here, but within the last month or so the tty settings have been set from within gnome-terminal (previously they were just inherited from the previous program), and this is all i can think that is causing it.

I get the same if stty speed is set to 0 when ssh:ing from an IRIX box to a solaris box while using xf86-xterm.
stty 9600 -> works
