encodings other than the current encoding are not listed in gnome-terminal on Solaris.

Description
On Solaris, invoke gnome-terminal and click on [Terminal] -> [Set Character Encoding] -> [Add or Remove] The 'Available encodings' list will contain only the current encoding.
While populating the 'Available encodings' list, the same charater sets are passed to the g_convert() function. This leads to failure of g_convert call in Solaris since iconv fails in Solaris if the from and to char sets in the conversion are same (though it does not fail in Linux). Due to the above failure, all the encodings are filtered out in Solaris and the encodings list is empty.
