Alt+Tab shortcut to switch windows stays at existing window whenever a focused application has a popup window open
Suppose you have 3 applications open in GNOME and you use ALT+Tab keyboard shortcut for 'Switch windows'. Let's assume these apps are:
- Chrome window
- File explorer
- An IDE, say intelliJ with a pop-up window open. For intelliJ you can open one using File >> settings. (This can be any desktop app, but it need to have a popup open on top of main application window.)
Now expectation is that on clicking ALT+Tab, I should alternate between my recent 2 apps. This doesn't occur when IntelliJ or any app with a popup open is one of the 2 recent apps.
This feature works under keyboard shortcut name 'Switch applications', but it combines all open chrome instances to one icon.
So either 'Switch windows' could be fixed if this a bug or could we have a new shortcut which provide above described behaviour?
