gnome-terminal crashes on text paste

Description
The gnome-terminal in our 29-March-2002 CVS HEAD nightly build crashes when
any text is pasted into it with the middle mouse button X paste.
Shortly after gnome-terminal crashes, panel also crashes even though panel
was launched from another terminal with gnome-panel&
detected a multithreaded program
program terminated by signal SEGV (no mapping at the fault address)
