Memory leak
I've experienced a memory leak, so here is my report.
System: Fedora 30 GNOME 3.32
(see how it uses double the RAM of gnome-shell)
top output:
rugk 2788 0.0 11.3 1875144 439624 tty2 Sl+ Mai13 2:47 | \_ /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service
rugk 7744 0.0 0.0 215744 804 pts/0 S+ 14:01 0:00 \_ grep --color gnome-software
With my limited knowledge here, I found some commands and created some files that may help you debugging it:
$ ps auxf|grep gnome-software > ps.txt
$ pmap -x 2788 > pmap.txt
$ journalctl --no-hostname --since=-24h -r | grep gnome-software > journalctl.log
$ top -b -p 2788 > top-p.txt
I've ZIPed it all and attached it here: gnome-software-leak.zip
Then I've tried to create a coredump via kill -ABRT 2788
, but I don't know where/if it saved it. Anyway, gnome-software just crashed afterwards.
ABRT catched the crash, however, and as the analysis failed, I could "only" upload all the files, (only!) for ABRT developers(!): https://retrace.fedoraproject.org/faf/dumpdirs/new/ccpp-2019-05-15-14:09:42.625481-2788.tar.gz
I also have the files still, if anyone else (of the devs) wants it.
Here is abrt reported to data:
