Low quality recommendations in editor's choice sections
On Fedora 39 / Software 45.1, the editor's choice section includes apps which we shouldn't be promoting, either because they are in a bad maintenance state, have poor quality metadata, or are preinstalled. This makes Software and the platform in general look uninviting.
We've discussed this issue on various occasions in the past (such as #1982 (closed) and #747 (closed)) and the last time we worked on it, the plan was to split out the recommendations data from gnome-software into a separate gnome-app-list project. Work on that got stalled on the inclusion guidelines.
Do we want to finish up the gnome-app-list initiative? The alternative would be to update and expand Curated.xml, and for Fedora's to remove its unmaintained fedora-popular.xml.
