Improve Search and App Discovery
Environment: Software 45, Gnome 45.2, Ubuntu 23.10, amd64, wayland, Flatpak gnome plugin installed.
The search should use metadata from the app that is hosted and index across more than one data field.
e.g. searching "gnome browser" shows no return.
Enable fuzzy logic search and return not exact matches but also likely matches.
When searching gnome browser as a user I would expect the following to be returned:
- epiphany browser
- gnome web browser
- any other gnome related browser
Also entering "gnome web", or "web browser" does not show the result "Web" for the gnome web browser.
Use Case: Find apps across different categories, or where a user may only know partial app name/category information. Otherwise the search is less powerful since it requires users to already know the exact name of the app, or the exact category the app is located in.
All that said the gnome software store search currently works very similar to iOS, or MacOS software store search logic, I just think it could be even better than Apple, with a tweak!
