Implement a feature to enable pausing operations
It would be really convenient if there was a functionality in Gnome Software that allowed users to temporarily pause downloads or updates. Currently, this can only be done through the terminal, but it would be great to have this option directly in the Gnome Software interface. This feature would be particularly useful for individuals who rely on Flatpak and image-based operating systems. There are instances when you only need to perform a simple internet task on your PC, but it gets blocked until an ongoing update is completed. Moreover, it can be frustrating to halt an update at 90% when you have a slow internet connection.
Expected Result:
- Gnome Software should have a built-in functionality to pause downloads and updates.
- This feature would provide convenience to users who require a temporary pause in their internet tasks while an update is ongoing.
- Users would be able to resume the paused operation whenever they want.
Actual Observations:
- Currently, Gnome Software lacks the ability to pause ongoing downloads or updates.
- To pause these operations, users have to rely on the terminal, which is not as user-friendly for everyone.
- This limitation might cause inconvenience for users who need to perform internet-based tasks while an update is in progress.
