update presented as downgrade before installation, but presented as update after installation
Please describe the issue you’re experiencing:
GNOME Software presents the update of RPM package:
- from: microcode_ctl-2:2.1-55.fc38.x86_64
- to: microcode_ctl-2:2.1-55.1.fc38.x86_64
as downgrade at update preparation stage. After installation it is listed as update.
What Linux distribution are you using, and what kind of package (RPM, deb, flatpak, etc.) are you experiencing the problem with?
Fedora 38 Workstation (I remember that I noticed that problem in a past Fedora Workstation version (one of 36, 34, 32, 30) but did not report it); RPM packages; GNOME Software version:
$ rpm -q gnome-software
gnome-software-44.4-1.fc38.x86_64
Please attach a log of the issue, by running the following commands, reproducing the issue, and then attaching gnome-software.log
here:
pkill gnome-software
gnome-software --verbose &> gnome-software.log
I skipped the installation/reboot: gnome-software_55-to-55.1.log
If the problem is with the user interface, please attach a screenshot or video of it. Please attach the file directly rather than linking to an external hosting service, as external files are likely to be deleted after a while.
Notes for reproduction
Downgrading the package (sudo dnf downgrade microcode_ctl
) uses release 54. The update:
- from: microcode_ctl-2:2.1-54.fc38.x86_64
- to: microcode_ctl-2:2.1-55.1.fc38.x86_64
is presented as update at update preparation stage and after installation.
Release 55 has been replaced in Fedora's updates repository with 55.1. You can download 55:
