Software didn't find drivers for my printer, even though printer-driver-brlaser is available in the Fedora repositories
Affected version
gnome-software-44.2-1.fc38.x86_64
Package
printer-driver-brlaser-6.2.5-2.fc38.x86_64 (RPM)
Description
I have a Brother HL-1212W printer and when I searched for its drivers in GNOME Settings > Printers, Software opened and said that no drivers were found. However, I found out that printer-driver-brlaser
package is available in the official Fedora repositories. After installing this package, the printer started to work flawlessly. Guttenprint wasn't working at all.
Perhaps this isn't a Software issue, but I have no clue where to report this.
Edit: something that I noticed is that the driver provided by printer-driver-brlaser
is for "HL-1200 Series" while the driver Software attempted to searched targeted "HL-1210W series":
