Firmware updates are hidden if they require the laptop lid to be open
My hardware security level recently dropped. Apparently, this is because of some new exploits that were discovered in relation to a piece of firmware.
Those exploits are addressed by a firmware update that is available for my laptop, so I could theoretically update my firmware and get my old security level back. The problem is, I don't see that firmware update in Software. The reason, apparently, is that the firmware update requires the laptop lid to be open in order for it to be installed, and that means that the update isn't listed in Software while the lid is shut. I typically use my laptop with the lid closed, so I never see the update.
We don't usually hide updates based on whether they can be installed or not, and I don't think we should do that in this case either. If an update is available, show it. If it requires the laptop lid to be open to be installed, instruct the user to open the lid when they go to install the update.
