Gnome-shell freezes in Wayland, x-org and Gnome Classic: "Unrecoverable failure in required component org.gnome.Shell.desktop"
I have been using Fedora 29 Desktop for some time since release. Recently I have been getting problems with my desktop freezing. The only way to recover is to reboot the laptop. I have had this issue occur when connected to external monitors and when running only my laptop monitor. All three Gnome modes, Wyland, Classis and x-org exhibit the same behaviour. From viewing the logs I get the following error message
Unrecoverable failure in required component org.gnome.Shell.desktop GLib-CRITICAL: g_child_watch_add_full: assertion 'pid > 0' failed
This seems to be getting worse and making the desktop quite hard to use. Sometimes from the reboots the gnome-shell does work correctly (will not open) when trying to use applications like Chrome and LibreOffice. and I have to toggle between the different versions of Gnome (Wyland, Classic and X-Org) in order for the shell to start to work again and display applications like Chrome and LibreOffice.
Any help would be appreciated.
