Extremely frequent crashing after update to version 46
Affected version
- OS and version: Fedora 40
- Affected version: 46.1
- Issue appears on Wayland (and seems to occur too in XOrg, but I haven't exhaustively tested it)
- The issue happens both with and without extensions
Bug summary
Gnome-shell crashes extremely frequently since the update to Fedora 40, the session rarely lasts longer than an hour. Sometimes, as the crash happens, small black or white squares appear on the top of the screen.
It's crashed twice while writing this report.
Steps to reproduce
Just using the desktop seems to trigger it. I have not been able to spot any way to force it to happen nor any specific pattern.
What happened
GNOME shell froze, and seconds later crashed (when an audio stream is open, it still sounds for several seconds) showing artifacts on the top of the screen, going back to gdm.
What did you expect to happen
I expected it to continue working.
