Inconsistent desktop and preview feed animations
Feature summary
There are three main screen states in GNOME:
- Usual (only the current desktop visible)
- Activities (desktop feed and desktop preview feed visible)
- Applications (applications and desktop preview feed visible)
When opening Activities state current desktop becomes part of the desktop feed and preview feed appears. That's totally ok. But then in the Applications state suddenly the desktop feed becomes the preview feed, and the preview feed disappears. That seems illogical. At the same time, due to this inconsistency, another problem appears: although due to the animation it seems that the desktop feed replaces the preview feed in the Applications, this is not true. Actually this IS the preview feed (the one from the Activities), this can be noticed by the disappearing nice layout of windows of the desktops (which is the feature of the desktop feed, when all the windows are arranged in a grid like on a showcase). And current desktop from Usual state is already part of the desktop feed, and it turns out three functions are hung on one entity at once. By the way noticed desktop previews in application menu don't have rounded corners but in activities they do.
How would you like it to work
When switching from the Activities to the Applications, the desktop feed should be overlapped by applications, and the preview feed should become larger. The final appearance and usability of the states will not change, but there will be a clear distinction between these two feeds.

On these screenshots I've marked entities with colors (parts of desktop feed as green and preview feed as red) according with GNOME animations. I'm trying to say there should be the red one in Applications menu.
