- Reboot
- GDM shows up and I'm able to login but I notice that clicking on the panel applet freezes the system.
- After login the Gnome activities overview shows up but the workspaces have black backgrounds. Clicking on a workspace results in a system hang and after a while goes back to the GDM login screen.
What happened
After a Fedora update that upgraded the mesa packages to version 23.3.0, the Gnome activities overview would show up after logging in but the workspaces would have black backgrounds. When a workspace was clicked on the system would freeze for a while and go back to the gdm login screen. The gdm panel applet would also hang the system. Downgraded the Mesa packages to version 23.2.1 and I'm able to use GNOME desktop normally. Also noticed that all Flatpaks of GNOME applications stopped working since a Mesa runtime (org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default/x86_64/22.08|23.08) upgrade to version 23.3.0. The GNOME application either don't draw on the screen or exhibit glitches and are unresponsive. Flatpaks of non-GNOME application run as expected and don't exhibit any glitches.
