No way to force software rendering of GNOME Wayland session
When I start the GNOME Wayland session, it ignores the LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1
environment variable. It shows the following warning, and uses the driver of the actual hardware instead software rendering:
org.gnome.Shell.desktop[559]: libEGL warning: Not allowed to force software rendering when API explicitly selects a hardware device.
This can be a problem when the driver is not capable to run GNOME Shell properly, and the user wants to use software rendering instead.
The GNOME Xorg session is not affected by this issue, it respects the LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1
environment variable.
