Slow search leads to an unexpected application being activated
Every time I want to start gitg I enter the Super g i t g Enter
key sequence, except for me it almost always runs GIMP instead. It seems to be because when I press Enter, Shell didn't finish looking for results for gitg
, so it was still showing the results for g
which has GIMP as its first result.
It's pretty frustrating:
- Shell didn't do what I expected it do do
- I have to close GIMP
- I look up for gitg again
- I did it fast again because of muscle memory and frustration
- so I have to close GIMP again
- and I have to look up for gitg anew, but slowly as a workaround, leading to even more frustration
I have no idea what should be done here.
- Should Shell silently dismiss activating the currently selected result when a search in being processed, which could lead to frustration?
- Should it dismiss the activation but with feedback?
- Should it dismiss the currently shown results?
- Should it wait for the new results to appear and activate its first result, even if it didn't have the time to display it, which could lead to confusion but in a different way?
