Switching workspaces on multi-monitor setup should keep focus on current monitor
- Start with a two-monitor setup (on my case, laptop plus monitor).
- Open window A in the "main" monitor.
- Open window B in the secondary monitor - this is sticky by default across workspaces, which is great.
- Change to another workspace.
- Open window C in the main monitor again, ensure that it has the focus.
- Switch to the first workspace using a hotkey (the default Ctrl-Alt-arrows work fine).
You'll see that the focus is on window B in the secondary monitor, while your eyes are in the main monitor - because window C from (5) is the last one that had the focus.
Instead, the focus should go to window A from (2) in the main monitor.
Scenario: I work on the main monitor, and use the secondary monitor for documentation and stuff. I'd like to flip workspaces back and forth while maintaining the focus on the main monitor. Otherwise, flipping workspaces (from work window A to work window C) becomes a two-step operation, instead of just the "change workspace" hotkey.
