Segfault in gnome-shell when right clicking files in playlist of celluloid media player
Affected version
- OS: Fedora 37
- Gnome Shell Version: 43.2
- Display Protocol: Wayland
The Issue does happen with and without any extensions enabled.
Bug summary
When opening a folder with the celluloid media player and enabling the playlist sidebar on the right side, gnome shell crashes, when the user right clicks repeatedly on an element in the playlist toolbar.
Steps to reproduce
- Open Files and navigated to a folder that has only audio files in it.
- Right click on that folder and choose to open it with celluloid. This will open celluloid and add the content of the folder inside its playlist.
- Enable the playlist sidebar. This option is located in the hamburger menu on the right side of the header bar.
- Double click on a song in the sidebar to play it.
- Repeatedly right click on different elements in the playlist. This should open a context menu
- Right click in the play window. This should stop and resume the playback. On my PC a lot of right clicks got ignored or they where registered with a delay of multiple seconds.
- Click the play button in the left corner of the window multiple times.
- Repeat steps 5-7 till the crash happens.
There is sadly no 100% reliable or fast way to trigger this, but this was the best and consistent way I could find to reproduce the gnome shell crash.
What happened
The desktop froze, gnome shell crashed and I was sent back to the login screen.
What did you expect to happen
The gnome shell should not crash.
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
As the gnome shell crashes, I cannot create a screencast, but I could gather some logs, that I attached as test files.
