Implement an option to reduce motion
Problem
The animations in GNOME can cause a very unpleasant experience for people with motion sensibility. Unfortunately, the only solution is to disable animations completely, which makes the experience jarring/harsh, as if it's not polished.
Lot of motion:
- Window closing and opening animation
- Overview animation
- App grid opening
- Workspace switching
- Clicking, through dash, in a opened app that is in another workspace
- Opening app folders in app grid
Moderate motion:
- Shell menus opening in the top bar
- Clearing lots of notifications
Low motion
- Incoming notification
Solution
Implement an option to reduce motion. It would replace these animations with a soft fade transition.
