Gnome filtering of JSAPI log messages
So the issue that appears quite often is that gnome mainly extensions and extensions host namely the JSAPI end up flooding the systemd journald facility slowing system.
So the main type of problem there is inability to filter log messages itself by the gnome software and gnome itself not having logging implemented as service.
Few ideas on how to repair that issue.
- One way is to internally by gnome team implement the rate limit to the gnome-shell.
- Other would be introduce the service that will do the log filtering of the messages of gnome software and gnome applications. Then we could rely on the LogRateLimitIntervalSec= and LogRateLimitBurst= for the service.
- Third would be write an independent program that will do that filtering instead of gnome-shell itself. Meaning all of the messages being generated can pass through parsing or rate limiting program that then can redirect to dev/null all those who are just repeated same message over and over.
The apps write to the syserr and logging system so addition of that type of apps can be done independently of gnome as well.
Tell me what are your views on the issue and how feasible is for the gnome team to add option itself or we could start writing independent program to remove that annoyance.
If my system is low on memory that type of messages slow down the system and make it unusable.
