Increase visibility of keypresses in on-screen keyboard
Feature summary
I need to be able to see more clearly when I've pressed a key in the on-screen keyboard, and which key it is. The only visual indication of a key being pressed is the background color changing slightly, and when my finger is on the key, it's mostly obscured. Not every app will accept all characters, so the keyboard needs to make it obvious when a key is pressed. This is also important for helping people learn how to type.
How would you like it to work
I think that at a minimum there should be more contrast between the unpressed and pressed background colors. It's very subtle right now.
To go further, the shape of the key could change significantly enough that the user can be sure that they pressed the area of the screen that they intended to. This shape change should be large enough to notice even when a finger is resting on the key.

Here is an example of how iOS handles this. A color change (white to dark gray) is enough for the spacebar and modifier keys. Symbol keys pull up a larger image of themselves to make it obvious which key is pressed.
