Accessibility > Zoom -> Color Effects -> Brightness: Should not apply to screenshots
Affected version
Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS GNOME Shell 42.4 Wayland
Bug summary
The Accessibility > Zoom -> Color Effects -> Brightness feature incorrectly applies to screenshots taken with any screenshot application (including the built-in "Take a Screenshot"). I wonder if there is a way to detect when screenshot APIs like gdk_pixbuf_save_to_stream_async() are called, and disable this brightness setting temporarily.
Steps to reproduce
- Go to Accessibility > Zoom -> Color Effects -> Brightness, and change the brightness setting
- Take a screenshot using any app (e.g. the built-in "Take a Screenshot" app)
- Notice that the brightness setting chosen is reflected in the screenshot, making it appear dimmer or brighter accordingly.
What happened
The Accessibility > Zoom -> Color Effects -> Brightness setting is applied to screenshots.
What did you expect to happen
I would not this setting to apply to screenshots, as it does not accurately capture what is displayed from the user's perspective.
