Game controllers don't prevent "idle" for power management
Affected version
Pop 22.04 / Gnome 42
Observed since Gnome 40 at least
Bug/feature summary
In a Gnome session, when playing a game with a game controller/joystick, after 30 minutes my screen will fade to black and my session will lock. If I play with keyboard and mouse, this doesn't happen.
Steps to reproduce
- Connect a joystick (I'm using a USB Logitech X56 HOTAS, but I'm pretty sure any will work)
- Play a game using just your joystick for whatever your idle timeout is set to in power settings
- Watch the screen fade to black before your eyes
What did you expect to happen
I would expect controller input to reset any "idle" input timer the same way keyboard and mouse does.
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
Running in Wayland, I'm pretty sure this happens in X11 as well but will confirm later tonight.
Marking as bug from user perspective ("I'm in the middle of using my PC and it just turned off anyway"), I'm aware it's a probably a feature from eng perspective, please edit / ask me to edit as needed.
