Obsolete quotation marks using the Norwegian Keyboard in GNOME 42
Using AltGr + V and AltGr + B have always produced the left and right double quotation marks. Pressing shift in addition to the above produces the simple quotation marks. In GNOME 42 these key combinations produce quotation marks that have been obsolete for almost a century!
I have been running Fedora for years. This issue occurred after upgrading to Fedora 36
Fedora version 36 Gnome version: GNOME 42 Keyboard layout: Norwegian
I happen to live in Norway, where the standard keyboard layout is Norwegian (no) I daily use the compose character keys (shortuts) to write anything from cedilla to simple and double quotation marks.
Before upgrading to Fedora 36, the left and right double quotation marks (U+201C) and (U+201D) were produced by pressing AltGr and either of the adjacent keys V and B. The simple quotation marks (U+2018) and (U+2018) were produce similarly by AltGr + shift + V (or B)
AltGr + V Left Double Quotation Mark U+201C AltGr + B Right Double Quotation Mark U+201D
shift + AltGr + V Left Single Quotation Mark U+2018 shift + AltGr + B Right Single Quotation Mark U+2019
Now, by contrast these same key combinations produce the double low „ “ and ‚ ‘
AltGr + V Double Low-9 Quotation Mark U+201E AltGr + B Left Double Quotation Mark U+201C
shift + AltGr + V Single Low-9 Quotation Mark U+201A shift + AltGr + B Left Single Quotation Mark U+2018
… which have been obsolete for a full century !!!!
The only way I can understand this, is that the GNOME team has been using a consultant who is supposed to know Norwegian typography, and who has implemented (perhaps on his/hers own initiative) this change.
The following article (in Norwegian) makes my point perfectly clear:

You MUST revert to the compose key cominations prior to GNOME 42 !!!
