gnome-shell freezes when it invokes a process that copies to the clipboard
Affected version
- gnome 42.3
- wayland
- arch linux (btw)
Bug summary
when gnome-shell (or an extension) invokes a process that copies data to the clipboard, gnome-shell freezes
Steps to reproduce
- looking glass
imports.gi.GLib.spawn_command_line_sync('wl-copy ahoy there')
What happened
the display freezes and doesn't react to input anymore (including the mouse pointer which doesn't move)
the machine seems responsive otherwise, i can ssh into it and kill -9 gnome-shell
(-15 doesn't seem to have any effect)
the gnome-shell process is also not spinning (cpu usage stays at reasonable levels)
What did you expect to happen
either the subprocess would work, my clipboard would be updated and gnome-shell would keep running; or the subprocess would fail because we can't let it access the clipboard; or if neither of those are technically possible the limitation would be documented
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
none i can think of
