App Grid Opening/Closing Animations Lag With Massive CPU Spike
GNOME-Shell Version: 3.26.2 OS Distro: Ubuntu 18.04 Dev / Ubuntu 17.10 CPU: Intel Celeron N2830 RAM: 8GB
When testing the latest stable release on this computer, I notice an unusual CPU spike from gnome-shell every time the app grid is opened or closed. The usual "explode" animation lags out and frames are dropped. The CPU spike that accompanies this brings total processor utilization to around 75%. Also, quickly hovering over items in the app dock increases CPU usage to inappropriate amounts.
This machine is used to test GUI on low-end hardware. Everything else (minimizing/maximizing windows, etc.) is buttery smooth. Which makes me think some optimizations are necessary for this particular animation.
