Failed to set CRTC gamma

Bug summary
Enabling "Night Light" in settings for the current time, has no effect.
Steps to reproduce
- Enable Night Light with manual schedule
- Set the Schedule from 04:00 to 03:00 (or any other time to include current time)
- Set the Color Temperature to warmest
- Disable/Enable Night Light again several times, with no effect
What happened
The color temperature remains the same
What did you expect to happen
Expected the screen to become warmer/red
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
When the night light toggle button is switched, the syslog shows following error repeatedly:
gnome-shell[2881]: Failed to set CRTC gamma: drmModeCrtcSetGamma on CRTC 74 failed: Function not implemented
