Modal dialog for passwords appears randomly, eats your keystrokes
The "Authentication Required" modal dialog can appear at random times, not just as a result of a direct user action like trying to unlock a configuration dialog. When it appears, it obtains keyboard focus immediately, and so if you were in the middle of typing something, then the dialog appears to eat those keystrokes.
