Wayland causes stutter on full screen game
Affected version
Fedora 42 with GNOME 40.1.0 and gnome shell 40.3 the issue does appear in wayland
Bug summary
When playing rocket league via steam proton (version 6.3) in full screen it does stutter, while the in game performance overlay doesn't show a noticeable increase of processing time or a lower FPS. When the game is launched on xorg the output fps seems to be consistant.
Steps to reproduce
- install steam
- go to libary -> rocket league -> compactabillity to check "force the use of a specific steam play compactabillity tool" and select proton 6.3 from the list
- install the game
- go to the games settings -> video and set all advanced settings to minumum to make sure the game rendering isn't the limiting factor
- under settings -> interface -> performance graphs select a performance graph
- play a game
What happened
For some reason the game was stuttering every few seconds
What did you expect to happen
I expected a contistant output of frames as the in game performance graph didn't show any reasons for the stutter to happen.
