Activities view opens unexpectedly when dragging windows with Super+Mouse1
Affected version
- OS: Fedora Silverblue 34 (34.20210715.0 from 2021-07-15)
- GNOME: 40.2-1.
- Tested with Wayland.
Bug summary
I have my window action key set to the sensible choice of the Super key. I'm not sure if this is the default or not. I think GNOME might default to the Alt key for some reason. In any case, this lets me drag windows around by holding Super and using Mouse1 to click and drag the windows. This works just fine in the vast majority of cases.
However, I've noticed that a specific sequence of events causes the Activities view to open after dragging the window. This occurs when I first click on a window's titlebar, then press and hold Super, then move the mouse to drag the window, then release the mouse button, and then finally release the Super key. After this sequence, the Activities view opens 100% of the time.
As far as I can tell, literally any other sequence of inputs lets me drag the window without the Activities view opening.
I'll also note that I don't have to use Super to drag a window if I'm clicking on the titlebar, as it will drag regardless of the Super key, but it easily becomes a habit to just hold the modifier when I want to drag regardless of where I'm clicking.
Steps to reproduce
- Have the window action key set to Super.
- Open an application window.
- Place the cursor over the window's titlebar.
- Click and hold the left mouse button, without moving the mouse.
- Press and hold the Super key.
- Move the mouse to drag the window to another position.
- Release the left mouse button.
- Release the Super key.
What happened
The window drags as expected. However, the Activities view then opens unexpectedly.
What did you expect to happen
I only expected the window to be dragged. The Activities view should not be opened, as the key was used as a modifier for another action, instead of pressed on its own in isolation.
