Pressing "Decrease Screen Brightness" function key turns of screen
Affected version
- OS: Arch Linux
- GNOME Shell: 1:40.0+67+g79acae41-1 (on Xorg)
- Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15ARE05 (built-in keyboard)
Bug summary
If I press the the button to decrease the screen brightness on my keyboard ("☼-") the screen turns off completely, even if the brightness is at maximum level. The "☼+" button works as expected though.
Current workaround is to press the button to dim the screen multiple times until the backlight is at minimum level, then press the button to increase the backlight again.
Steps to reproduce
- Press "☼-" button on the keyboard once
What happened
Screen goes black, although the screen brightness setting was at maximum, not almost zero.
What did you expect to happen
Dim the screen in steps, not turn off the screen completely after pressing the button once.
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
Although evtest
shows that the keyboard supports the following keys, those do not show up when pressing the brightness up/down buttons (unlike the volume up/down buttons).
Event code 224 (KEY_BRIGHTNESSDOWN)
Event code 225 (KEY_BRIGHTNESSUP)
...
Event code 245 (KEY_DISPLAY_OFF)
