"Move to workspace below" and "Move to workspace above" hidden shortcuts (<Control><Alt>Up and <Control><Alt>Down) interferes with <Ctrl><Alt><Shift>Up and <Ctrl><Alt><Shift>Down shortcut
Affected version
- Arch Linux
- 3.36.1
- XOrg
Bug summary
I encountered this bug while trying to use VS Code's Copy Line Up and Copy Line Down shortcut.
I realized that GNOME uses a mostly similar combination of key presses for its Move to workspace below and Move to workspace above.
While VS Code shortcut for Copy Line Up and Copy Line Down involves pressing the <Ctrl><Alt><Shift>Up and <Ctrl><Alt><Shift>Down keys, GNOME's Move to workspace below and Move to workspace above will hijack said shortcut even though it only uses <Ctrl><Alt>Up and <Ctrl><Alt>Down respectively.
It is worth noting that I also removed the default Move window one workspace up and Move window one workspace down shortcuts because those are the exact same as VS Code's Copy Line Up and Copy Line Down.
Steps to reproduce
Open VS Code and try to use the Copy Line Up and Copy Line Down by pressing the <Ctrl><Alt><Shift>Up and <Ctrl><Alt><Shift>Down keys while still having the default GNOME shell's Move to workspace below and Move to workspace above shortcuts and you will see that NOTHING happens.
What happened
GNOME's Move to workspace below and Move to workspace above hijacks said shortcut even though it only uses <Ctrl><Alt>Up and <Ctrl><Alt>Down respectively without the <Shift> key.
What did you expect to happen
I expect VS Code's Copy Line Up and Copy Line Down to work since it is using the <Shift> key additionally.
