Change the indication of adding applications to the Dash.
Affected version
- Affected GNOME Shell version: as far back in Gnome3 as I can remember
Current indication of adding applications to the Dash
A notification appear and cover the search bar
Problem with the current way of doing it
In a new system when users add their most used applications to the dash a notification covering the search bar and forces you to close it with every newly added application is too disturbing especially because a search is what people use to quickly reach the applications they want.
toggling do not disturb (in Gnome 3.36) does not work because the notification for adding applications to the dash are coming from the shell and the shell does not setup emergent and non-emergent priority
Proposed solution
Change the indication of adding applications to the Dash to animation (for example) or make an animated star appear (starts from the corner and zoom out while also fading)
Summary
The current way of indication to a newly adding application to the dash is too disturbing because it covers an important part of the UI making the user have to do an extra step to go back to what they were doing
