DBus interface org.gnome.Shell.Screenshot does not allow capturing mouse cursor for ScreenshotArea
The ScreenshotArea
method of the org.gnome.Shell.Screenshot interface does not support capturing the mouse cursor.
This is inconsistent with both the Screenshot
and ScreenshotWindow
methods, which both explicitly support capturing the cursor. Also the org.gnome.Shell.Screencast interface has a ScreencastArea
method, which also allows recording the cursor (by passing the draw-cursor
option in the options dict).
As it generally seems to be possible I don't think there is a technical limitation. I don't know enough about DBus to judge whether it is possible to extend the existing function interface without being backward incompatible. Probably fixing this requires adding a new function.
