[Feature] Bring back the systray icons, please!
I've read article about GNOME's decision to remove the systray icons, I understand the UX design behind it. I've waited several years hoping to see a better UX emerged, one without icons in the systray, but with the same functionalities. But the reality is that it doesn't work: Nextcloud, Steam, Riot, Teams, etc... open source or not, all these applications that I use daily simply does not work properly without systray icons. And on top of that, GNOME devs keeps breaking all the TopIcons-like extensions.
I'm begging you! Please reconsider your decision!
Please, do something about it, this situation is utterly painful. I must not be the only one in this situation. Ask your users, make a survey, look at the installed extensions statistics (although skewed since the TopIcons-like extensions work on and off). I'm sure you will see that your (power?) users are in pain because of this decision.
At the very least, maintain yourself a systray extension, as you do for the Classic GNOME option (which I don't use, I prefer the more modern interface).
I honestly love most of the UX decisions you take, but to me, removing the systray is just a bad one in the end.
Thanks for reading this, please don't close it right away, take actions instead to feel what your users think about it, and publish the report. If the vast majority has no problem at all with the removal of the systray, then I'll know that GNOME might not be the best desktop for me, although I love everything else.
