enabling windowNavigator extension makes shell become unresponsive on Gnome 40

I installed Gnome 40 and updated my extensions.

When windowNavigator is enabled the shell becomes unresponsive after switching between a window and the overlay screen more than once.

The shell does not actually seem to freeze completely, for example opening a terminal window with a keyboard shortcut works and will actually show the terminal icon on the dock, but the shell seems completely stuck otherwise.
