Accessibility > Zoom > Magnifier Cursor Pushes content around as default setting
Make magnifier cursor pushes content arround as the default setting for Zoom as the current default makes zoom feel more dizzying as the zoom focus moves around with the cursor everytime i move the cursor even a little bit the zoom focus shifts along with it. Which creates a bad user experience especially in scenarios like. Try the following for example:
- Zoom in at 4x or 5x which is my natural preference considring my vision
- Move the cursor to the top right corner
- just try moving the cursor from Left to right
- Try clicking an item and try navigating through the pop over
Notice how when the cursor moves towards left the button right next to it on the right gets hidden from view. This makes things especially difficult if said user is a beginer and knows nothing about Gnome. They need to read the tool tips be able to see as much as possible within their area of focus. And given the nature of the setting everything feels like it's moving fast, In a good UX the cursor should move fast with the movements of the mouse not the whole view. In other words, it makes it feel like the view on the screen is constantly shifting and makes it harder to keep track of things, know where they are where everything is positioned and so on.
Now, try doing the same with the option Magnifier cursor pushes content around
Notice how even when you are moving the cursor away twoards the left the focus does not move as it feels steadier and in place (forgive my choice of words, it's hard to describe). This makes it easier for someone like me vith visual impairment. Let's say i am typing somewhere like filing an issue for example, instead of my focus moving around with my cursor which would only show me the last couple of words i typed on screen. the option to push focus around keeps the focus steady right where i want it to be just the way i want it to be and would not move unless i push my mouse cursor from the corner of focused area. This makes things especially easier when trying to reach actions on corners of the screen. And it makes things easier on the eyes and helps with genral navigation as keeping track of things on screen feels easier and more natural.
Also note Magnifier cursor pushes content around is the default on windows magnifier which in my many years of using all kinds of magnification software feels more natural and friendly where i see what i want to see the way i want to see.
I am posint this issue as someone who heavily relies on magnification software to see things on screen. In most cases i won't be able to read things on screen without magnification of at least 4x levels.
