Night light mode should expose a setting for daytime temperature
There should be a setting for the daytime temperature used by the Night Light feature. This would correct the display color only when the Night Light option is enabled, but during daytime hours.
I have seen !6 (closed), but it's important to me to continue having different day and night color temperatures.
I currently rebuild gnome-settings-daemon with the following quick and dirty patch

+++ b/plugins/color/gsd-color-state.h

If there is interest in this, I would be happy to start on a more complete change to add a setting for daytime color correction that would be enabled/disabled with Night Light mode.
