Black rectangle in middle of primary monitor in HiDPI Cinnamon multi-monitor screenshots
In Linux Mint 20.1 using the Cinnamon 4.8.6 desktop manager, gnome-screenshot
produces an unexpected black rectangle in the middle of the primary monitor using HiDPI (2X scaling) and two monitors. This issue has been noted in the Cinnamon git bugtracker here https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/9589 and is also present on Arch (user has AMD graphics, I have NVIDIA so it appears driver-independent) however I believe it is a problem with gnome-screenshot
because other screenshot managers work fine like using Shutter shutter -f
. The forked git repo for Mint gnome-screenshot appears to be abandoned and I could not report an issue for that repository, so I am posting here. It also appears this problem doesn't happen when using 1X scaling (or no scaling) or using a direct dbus Cinnamon command like dbus-send --session --type=method_call --dest=org.Cinnamon /org/Cinnamon org.Cinnamon.Screenshot boolean:true boolean:true string:/tmp/test.png
. I'm fairly sure this is some kind of weird gnome-screenshot problem. Can anyone please look into this? Again, alternate screenshot managers like Shutter work perfectly with two displays using HiDPI scaling. I have attached a sample screenshot where you can see the black rectangle on the primary monitor.
