Connection fails when GNOME lock screen is active
When the GNOME lock screen is active, I would like to connect via the remote desktop daemon and be able to see the lock screen, where I would then input my password to unlock the desktop. However, connecting to G-R-D fails (with both RDP and VNC) while the lock screen is active.
G-R-D prints the following log output after trying to connect while the lock screen is active:
Failed to start remote desktop session: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: Session creation inhibited
To solve this problem, I have to run a separate VNC server, in my case x0vncserver
. This works fine; when I connect while the lock screen is active, it displays the lock screen. I put in my password and the lock screen disappears and reveals the desktop.
Edit: To be clear, this is not the same as #92 (closed) as I'm talking about the GNOME Shell lock screen, not GDM. It's also not a duplicate of #16 as I want to be able to access the lock screen remotely, not bypass it for remote sessions.
