Use Code-Point Open data for UK post code lookup

Description
Currently GNOME Maps is pretty useless for many post code-based searches in the UK owing to it being far from complete. I'm guessing it may be using Free The Postcode data? Sadly despite the best intentions of that project it never achieved full post code coverage.
Combined with street address information being similarly spotty at best, this renders Maps fairly useless for a lot of lookup/routing cases in the UK.
Having a complete post code database would deliver a large chunk of that missing address location/routing functionality in one go.
Ordinance Survey made their comprehensive post code centroid data ("Code-Point Open") available under the OGL (Open Government Licence) a couple of years ago; I believe this licence should be compatible with the use of the data in conjunction with Maps?
