Add Desktop to Places, and is it possible to have different files visible on the desktop depending on the workspace?
Another question - is there some way to add the Desktop under "Places" in Flashback? It used to be there (in the version for 18.04) - and that helped with what I do. I use the desktop all the time for holding and accessing files (and then when done move them to specific folders).
Also, is there some way to separate out the folders showing on the desktop based on the workspace? My usual setup is to have comm software on workspace 1 (also my ham radio software when I'm trying to do something), basic work files on 2, either QGis or Remmina on 3, and 4 reserved for special programs or multiple folders for moving files around. When I'm not working (for employment), I may have basic internet (Firefox and Tbird) on 1, Virtualbox on 2, folders on 3, and maybe amateur software running on 4. As you can tell, I use the workspaces a LOT (all three monitors in use all the time as well).
I appreciate any help I can get - Flashback has solved the big problems I was encountering, but there are a few less critical issues (although still quite important) - icon placement and easy access to the Desktop for instance. (I'll try the ctl-drag I read about, it might be enough for the access issue). Since there is auto-arrange only, I can (sigh) live with that, and am familiar with both dconf-editor and Tweaks (I don't use gconf-editor, it doesn't work on my system).
BTW - I'm not really a programmer, although I can read some code and even modify it (C although I've also done some reading on Python and can figure out what is happening, line by line). I also can, with help (where to look primarily) dig around in the OS a little (white and blacklisting, setting specific permissions, and so on). I hope that what I'm asking (about adding Desktop to the Places menu) isn't a big issue (I'd also like to move things around a bit in that menu). If I can move certain icons to specific workspaces and set them up so they only show on that workspace - now THAT would really be handy! (That's not a bug, but something that would help organize everything!)
Thanks! Bob
