GNOME Disks Should Default to /media for Easier Configuration and Better Integration with flatpak
Hello,
I would like to suggest an improvement regarding the default mount point configuration in GNOME, specifically in the context of GNOME Disks and its integration with Flatpak.
Current Observations:
-
Documentation and Common Practice: Current documentation and common configurations often use
/media
as the primary mount point for removable devices -
Most Flatpak applications are configured to access
/media
orrun/media
but not/mnt
. -
File System Integration: The
/media
mount point is automatically visible in the file manager without needing to addx-gvfs-show
option.
Proposal:
To standardize user experience and enhance flatpak application integration, I propose that GNOME Disks be configured by default to use /media
as the mount point for removable devices with defaults
and nofail
options. This would align the default configuration with common practices and application access needs, while reducing the number of options.
I believe this change would contribute to better consistency and ease of use within the GNOME ecosystem, especially for those using Flatpak applications.
Thank you for considering this proposal.
Regards,
Vincent.
