CUPS errors never shown to user

Trying to print using a PPD that's missing helper files:

May 21 13:46:17 classic cupsd[602]: ML-2950: File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertosamsungspl" not available: No such file or directory
May 21 13:46:17 classic cupsd[602]: Unable to start filter "rastertosamsungspl" - No such file or directory.
May 21 13:46:17 classic cupsd[602]: Stopping job because the scheduler could not execute a filter.

Those errors should be communicated back to the user. Right now the job dialogue just shows "Stopped" and allows clicking the play/pause button which does absolutely nothing.
