“Built-In Permissions” and “Integration” are misnomers
gnome-control-center master, Ubuntu 19.04 beta
- Navigate to “Applications”.
- Select any app that has at least one of each kind of thing shown in the panel.
What you see:
- A “Permissions & Access” section containing a “Built-In Permissions” item.
- An “Integration” section containing items like “Search” and “Notifications”.
What’s wrong with this:
-
“Permissions & Access”/“Built-In Permissions” is a misleading label: the section consists entirely of things that you can’t give permission for, because they are compulsory, while the things you can give permission for aren’t in that section.
-
“Integration” is not a meaningful category: the items listed under “Permissions & Access” are just as much about “integration” as the items under “Integration” are.
What you should see:
- “Built-In Permissions” and “Integration” are changed to something like “Required” and “Optional”, respectively, to convey the distinction between them.
